IE3 Global Internships provides the following:
  • internship placement
  • pre-departure orientation
  • international health insurance
  • learning tools
  • monitoring and support by a regional director in the U.S.
  • Professors on your home campus award credit based on agreed upon reporting requirements.

Program Standards

The following standards define an IE3 Global Internship:
  • Internships are a minimum of ten weeks of full-time work
  • The internship integrates academic credit on your home campus with on-the-job experience
  • Host organizations must provide a designated supervisor on site
  • International health and emergency insurance are provided by IE3.

Mission and History

IE3 Global Internships has been on the cutting edge of international internships since 1996.

Initially established to foster global competence through professional experience abroad, the original program (Global Graduates – the Oregon International Internship Program) received $4 million in federal funding. To date we have sent more than 2000 interns to over 97 countries worldwide.

Much has changed since those early years – and not just the name. Demand for international internships has grown. The internet has opened up new means of communication. IE3 has expanded partnership to include universities throughout the western U.S. IE3 leverages the long history of the program to maintain standards and requirements of both internship sites and potential interns.

Our Mission Statement: IE3 Global Internships provides opportunities for students to grow personally, professionally and cross-culturally. Students integrate their academic experience into professional practice through high quality, affordable and rigorous international internships that help them develop the global competencies employers seek: intercultural competence, adaptability, creativity, global awareness, stewardship and job skills.
