Travel dates: September 1 – 17, 2014

Explore the interaction between business and the environment using India as a laboratory. Travel and study with students from business, Huxley College of the Environment and other WWU students. Learn to apply business skills in the changing economics and social environment of India.  Business principles cannot be learned and experienced without the context of a sustainable environment. Students concerned with the environment will meet the business imperatives of a developing country.   By studying together, you will learn that many principles apply to both areas, and better understand the relationships between business and natural systems.

Pre-Req: IBUS 370 is recommended

Program Details

Explore in depth topics in international business using India as a laboratory:

  • Gain personal experience of the complexity of global business
  • Experience and learn first-hand from the cultural, economic, political and national differences in a diverse economy and be able to compare the US economy with the newly developing economies of India and China
  • Explore possibilities of establishing new ventures abroad applying concepts learned in the classroom
  • Observe and compare business strategies, domestic and international
  • Learn to appreciate and deal with different cultures and value systems

For both Huxley students and CBE students, we expect to offer a number of internships for the fall term.  While probably unpaid, these internships offer a great opportunity to work in a firm in the south of India, a very dynamic region of the Indian economy.    Inexpensive housing will be provided by the university, as well as a faculty mentor for the period of the internship.
