Monique Kerman is Associate Professor of African Art History and Visual Culture at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, where she teaches courses including A/Hi 383, “Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora,” A/Hi 385, “African and Diasporic Cinema since 1960,” as well as seminars such as A/Hi 416, “Global Borders and Contested Terrains: Africa” and A/Hi 337c, “Figure & Symbol.” She is the author of Contemporary British Artists of African Descent and the Unburdening of a Generation (Cham, Switzerland: Palgrave Macmillan, 2017).
