Education Abroad, Program Coordinator
As a Program Coordinator, my role is to inform students about the full range of exciting education abroad opportunities offered at WWU and to assist them in choosing the program that best fits their academic and personal goals. My interest in International Education was sparked after studying abroad in Italy as an undergraduate. Living in Rome and immersing into a new culture completely changed my life. My experience abroad provided me with a wider appreciation of different cultures, of valuing other people and their differing perspectives, and ultimately, inspired a career path for me. After finishing my Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, with a research emphasis in International Education from Washington State University, I traveled extensively, visiting over 22 countries including areas of Europe, Africa, and Central America. I then spent six months working as an on-site coordinator for a Spanish Immersion Program and Language School in San Carlos, Costa Rica. Since returning to the US, I have continued to work in International Education and am still making plans to visit new and exciting regions of the world! My upcoming travels will include visits to parts of South East Asia and Nepal! It is my hope that by experiencing different means of travel I can better assist students through the holistic and educational transitions they may face before, during, and after their ventures abroad. My International Education experiences have positively impacted my life in so many ways, and I am very excited to "pay it forward" by helping future students study abroad! Go Abroad Vikings!
