Gigi Berardi is a professor at Western Washington University and teaches food and geography classes domestically and internationally. Her research focuses on community economic vulnerabilities and rural ecology. Her work has appeared in outlets including the LA Times, the Anchorage Daily News, BioScience among others. She holds a PhD from Cornell University in Natural Resources Policy and Planning. Her FoodWISE book has been listed as one of “19 reads that inspire us and challenge us to be better activists, environmentalists, cooks, policymakers, protectors of the planet, farmers, supporters of pollinators and advocates for a better food system” (foodtank.com; also noted in Forbes.com) and has won numerous awards.
